Did you know that some parts of Tel Aviv are a UNESCO World Heritage Site?
Some of the older sections of this vibrant city were awarded UNESCO Stratus in 2003 thanks to the architectural style of the buildings – Bauhaus. Tel Aviv’s Bauhaus building exemplify the principals of this art movement that was popular in Germany between 1919 to 1936and which stated that art and technology must be combined. Nowhere was this so true as in architecture and Tel Aviv’s “White City” is an outstanding example of this with, at its heyday, over 4000 buildings built in this style in Tel Aviv alone and thousands of others across the country.
The Bauhaus Center celebrates this architectural movement and its glory days in Tel Aviv. Apart from a permanent exhibition and changing exhibitions, the center also organizes 2-hour walking tours of the White City giving you a unique insight into Tel Aviv as it was over 80 years ago.
Tours usually leave from the center every Friday morning at 10:00 but you can get more information here.
The Center is open Saturday to Thursday from 10:00 – 19:30 and Friday from 10:00 – 14:30,
