Jewish history and culture museum

Beit Hatfutsot, the Museum of the Jewish People, is dedicated to telling the ongoing and extraordinary Story of the Jewish people so that the past remains with us rather than fading away.

The museum, which opened its doors in 1978 has set itself a number of goas:

To showcase the unique 4,000 + year-old story of the Jewish people both in the Diaspora and in Israel – past, present and future.
To foster and strengthen a sense of community and belonging amongst Jews from different cultures.
To serve as a focus for Jewish dialogue, interaction and learning for Jewish individuals, families, communities and organizations from around the world.

Exhibitions and Events

The museum has a core exhibition as well as temporary exhibitions.
Temporary exhibitions run the gamut of Jewish history and culture and reflect many aspects of Jewish life.

The Core Exhibition

Please note that the Core Exhibition is undergoing extensive renovations and some parts may be closed.
The Core Exhibition is the heart and soul of the museum taking visitors on a journey through time and across continents exploring the unique story of the Jewish people. Using murals, reconstructions, dioramas, audio-visual displays, documentary films and interactive multi-media presentations the visitor is immersed in the day to day story of the Jewish people in their various diaspora.

The exhibition is divided into seven sections:

The Family Section

Slide shows of hundreds of photographs of contemporary Jews from all parts of the world showing the different aspects of Jewish life.

The Community Section

Explore and experience Jewish communal life over the generations.

The Memorial Column

The Memorial Column is suspended from the ceiling in the central area of the building, and focuses our thoughts on the persecution that the Jews have suffered down through the ages.

The Faith Section

A fascinating and accurate display of eighteen miniature synagogue reproductions. As of writing, this exhibition is due to relocated in to the new Synagogues Hall due to be opened during 2016.

The Culture Section

Celebrating Jewish thought and creativity.

Among the Nations

A look at the interaction between Jews and their host. environments.

Return to Zion

For thousands of years Jews have said “Next Year in Jerusalem”.

Beit Hatfutsot is located on the campus of Tel-Aviv University, Klaussner Str. in Ramat Aviv.
Entrance through Matatia Gate 2.

Sunday-Tuesday: 10am-4pm
Wednesday-Thursday: 10am-7pm*
Friday: 9am-1pm
The Museum is closed on Saturdays and Jewish holidays.
